The Community of Madrid will allocate 28 million euros to aid health research and development projects, representing a 40% increase compared to the previous call. The Governing Council authorized this budgetary allocation this week, with the objective of strengthening the competitiveness of the region’s research centers.
Four-Year Programs and Collaborative Research
The funding will enable the promotion of four-year programs, scheduled to run between 2026 and 2029. Each initiative must comprise between three and ten research groups, originating from at least three different institutions.
Priority Research Areas
Applications can focus on areas such as:
- Biomedical engineering
- New diagnostic systems
- Drug or vaccine development
- Clinical research
- Neuroscience
- Medical robotics
Beneficiaries of these grants will include public and private universities, public research organizations and centers, IMDEA foundations, other entities dedicated to R&D, and healthcare institutions with research activities.
Increased Project Funding and Reduced Bureaucracy
The maximum amount per program has been increased from 1,200,000 to 1,300,000 euros. The funds can be allocated to direct costs, such as the hiring of research, technical, or R&D management personnel, the acquisition and amortization of equipment, or mobility expenses. They can also cover indirect costs, up to a limit of 25% of the total aid.
Notably, the call promotes the incorporation of emerging groups led by young researchers. Furthermore, participation conditions have been made more flexible, with a simplification of administrative procedures to reduce the bureaucratic burden on projects.
