The Community of Madrid’s Youth Card program experienced significant growth in 2025, with a 12% increase in new users compared to 2024. This surge translates to over 78,800 new registrations, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 744,161 Madrid residents aged 14 to 30. Currently, 54% of this age group in the region holds the free, personal, and non-transferable card.

Building on its success, the regional government has introduced new enhancements to the Youth Card program for 2026. As announced by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during the State of the Region Debate, the following changes are now in effect:
- Expanded Age Eligibility: Minors from the age of 12 can now access the Youth Card for free, a reduction from the previous minimum age of 14.
- Included Travel Insurance: Both existing and new Youth Cards will now incorporate travel insurance, providing added value and security for young travelers.
These updates are part of the regional executive’s efforts to modernize the service, which also saw the successful integration of a digital format for the card and the development of a dedicated mobile application. This app allows users to easily consult geolocated advantages tailored to their preferences.
How to Obtain Your Youth Card
The only requirements to obtain the Youth Card are to meet the established age criteria and be a resident of the Community of Madrid. The card is completely free.
