V CEIA International Arbitration Conference to Convene in Barcelona in June 2026
Barcelona, February 26, 2026 – The Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), in collaboration with the ADR-ICAB Center and the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club (CEIA), announced today that it will organize the V International Arbitration Conference in Barcelona. The event is scheduled to take place on June 3 and 4, 2026, and will serve as a prelude to the XX International Congress of the CEIA in 2026. The conference aims to bring together top-tier professionals from the international arbitration field to analyze contemporary issues.
Institutional Opening and Key Discussions
The conference will commence on June 3, 2026, with an institutional panel. This session will be chaired by Cristina Vallejo, Dean of the ICAB; Ramon A. Casanova, Deputy of the Governing Board responsible for the Arbitration Commission; Maria José Menéndez, President of CEIA; and Jorge Azagra, President of the Bar’s Arbitration Commission.
The first panel will delve into “The Impact of Third-Party Funders’ Intervention in Arbitrations,” a topic of significant relevance in the evolving landscape of international arbitration. The session will be moderated by international arbitrator Christa Mueller and will feature interventions from international arbitrators Cristian Gual and Duarte Henriques, alongside Cristina Soler, CEO of Ramco Litigation Funding.
Following this, the second panel will address “Awards on Arbitration Costs,” with Mercedes Tarrazón moderating. Distinguished professionals with extensive international experience, including Alfredo Bullard, Cristián Conejero, and Joe Tirado, are slated to participate in this discussion.
Continuing Sessions and Keynote Speaker
The conference will continue on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with the CEIA-40 session titled “Short and Sweet: Mechanisms for Early Resolution of Arbitration.” This session will be moderated by Iris Sauvagnac and Mariana de la Rosa, featuring contributions from Lucía Montes, Miriam Fernández-Estrada, and Pablo Martínez Llorente.
Subsequently, the emeritus dean of the ICAB, Pedro L. Yúfera, will deliver the keynote address of the conference, offering valuable insights to the attendees.
The event will conclude with the CEIA-Mujeres (CEIA-Women) meeting: “Vermouth with the Constitutional Court,” moderated by lawyer Marta Legarreta.
