Barcelona, May 12 – Barcelona City Council announced today that it will centralize and expand its municipal support for the migrant regularization process at Pavilion 2 of Fira de Barcelona, located at Avenida de Rius i Taulet, 10. This initiative, set to begin on May 18, aims to streamline and enhance the assistance provided to migrants seeking extraordinary regularization.
A Centralized Hub for Comprehensive Support
The 3,000-square-meter pavilion will serve as a central point for all related services, offering a wide array of support to applicants. This includes processing points from the Service for the Attention of Immigrants, Emigrants, and Refugees (SAIER), administrative staff from Citizen Service Offices (OAC), specialized legal advice, and support points for processing, in collaboration with the Red Cross.
Furthermore, applicants will be able to manage their digital certificates at the facility, which are essential for submitting online regularization applications. The center will operate from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, providing extensive hours to accommodate a large number of individuals.
Addressing the Needs of Non-Registered Residents
From May 13, the facility will also extend its services to individuals residing in Barcelona who are not registered in the municipal census. SAIER teams will provide assistance to accredit residency in the city and facilitate the necessary vulnerability reports for the regularization process. This expansion aims to ensure that all eligible individuals receive the support they need, regardless of their registration status.
Changes in Service Points and Continued Support
With the opening of the Fira de Barcelona hub, the OACs of Sant Miquel and Monumental will cease to provide this specific service from Monday to Friday, starting May 18. However, attention for registered individuals who only require documentation will continue at the regularization support space on Miquel Bleach street, 24, from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and at the OAC of Monumental on Saturdays, from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM. SAIER will also continue to attend to more complex cases by appointment.
Significant Impact and Future Outlook
To date, municipal support points have assisted over 27,000 individuals with regularization processes. More than 170,000 registration certificates have been issued, and approximately 2,600 vulnerability certificates have been processed. These figures underscore the significant demand for these services and the positive impact of the city’s initiatives.
