Madrid Municipal Summer Pools: Your Essential Guide for 2026

The Madrid City Council has officially launched the 2026 municipal summer pool season, offering residents and visitors an affordable and activity-rich way to beat the heat. With 22 pools already open since May 15th and three more scheduled to open in early June (Santa Ana, Moscardó, and Vallecas), the city is ready to welcome swimmers until September 6th.

This season introduces a range of new features, including free express classes in aquagym, aquafitness, aquatic activation, and physical conditioning, all included with your entry ticket. These initiatives aim to transform municipal pools into more active, healthy, and engaging spaces for everyone.

When and Where to Enjoy Madrid’s Summer Pools

The 2026 summer pool campaign runs from May 15th to September 6th. A total of 25 outdoor pools will be available across various districts, in addition to several heated indoor pools used for recreational purposes.

Here’s a district-by-district breakdown of the municipal summer pools:

  • Arganzuela: Peñuelas (Calle de Arganda, 25)
  • Barajas: Mistral (Calle de Mistral, 4)
  • Carabanchel: Blanca Fernández Ochoa (Calle de Monseñor Óscar Romero, 41)

  • Hortaleza: Luis Aragonés (Calle de El Provencio, 20), Hortaleza (Carretera de la Estación de Hortaleza, 11)
  • Latina: Aluche (Avenida de General Fanjul, 14)

Operating Hours and Shifts

The City Council maintains the popular three-shift system:

  • Morning Shift: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Full Day Shift: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (requires an identifying wristband)

Madrid continues to offer accessible pricing for all:

  • Children (5 to 14 years): €1.35
  • Youth (15 to 26 years): €1.80
  • Adults (27 to 64 years): €2.25
  • Seniors (65+ years): €0.70

Full Day Shift Prices:

  • Seniors (65+ years): €1.35

Discounts and Free Access:

  • Unemployed individuals: 70% reduction on the general rate.
  • Individuals with disabilities: Free access with a special sports card.
  • Abono Deporte Madrid holders: Free access under specific conditions.

How to Purchase Tickets

The system prioritizes digital sales for efficiency and crowd management:

  • Online: Via the Deportes Web portal or the Madrid Móvil application. 80% of tickets are sold online up to 49 hours in advance.
  • On-site: 20% of tickets are available at the sports center ticket offices 30 minutes before each shift. Unsold online tickets may also become available at the ticket office.

The dynamic capacity control system will continue to free up spots when users leave early, a system that reused over 28,700 tickets in 2025.

New Free Express Classes and Activities

The 2026 season introduces a new “Directed Physical Activity Program in Pools” from May 18th to June 30th. These free express classes (30-45 minutes) are open to all, require no prior registration, and are included with your regular pool admission.

Key features of the program:

  • Two daily sessions from Monday to Friday (one morning, one afternoon).
  • Recreational, healthy, and non-competitive activities.
  • Activities in water, on dry land, and combined.

Available Activities:

  • Aquagym: Cardiovascular and toning exercises in water.
  • Aquafitness: Dynamic, music-accompanied aquatic exercise.
  • Aquasalud: Gentle activity for joint mobility, especially for seniors.
  • Healthy Back in Water: Sessions to improve mobility and strengthen spinal muscles.
  • General Physical Conditioning (dry land): Bodyweight exercises for strength, coordination, and endurance.
  • Mobility and Stretching: Gentle classes for elasticity and muscle recovery.
  • Aquatic Activation: Short, dynamic sessions to start the day with movement in the water.
  • Combined Dry-Water Activity: Mixed format with warm-up on dry land followed by aquatic exercises.

Schedule of Express Classes (May 18th – June 30th, 2026):

  • Carabanchel (CDM Blanca Fernández Ochoa): Combined dry-water activity. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 AM, Fridays at 11:15 AM.
  • Ciudad Lineal (CDM Concepción): Aquafitness. Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:45 AM and 4:00 PM, Fridays at 12:30 PM.
  • Fuencarral-El Pardo (CDM Vicente del Bosque): Combined dry-water activity. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM and 4:00 PM. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 PM.
  • Latina (CDM Aluche): Combined dry-water activity (confirmation pending). Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Fridays from 10:15 AM to 10:45 AM and 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM.
  • Moncloa-Aravaca (CDM El Quijote): Activity pending confirmation. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12:00 PM.
  • Moncloa-Aravaca (CDM José María Cagigal): Aquatic gymnastics in summer pool and functional training on lawn. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 PM, Fridays at 12:00 PM.
  • Moratalaz (CDM La Elipa): Mobility and stretching on dry land and GAP. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM (mobility and stretching). Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM (GAP).
  • Moratalaz (CDM Moratalaz): Aquagym. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15 PM to 4:45 PM.

Free CPR Workshops

In addition to the new classes, municipal pools will once again host free basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) workshops from June to August. These practical sessions, led by municipal sports center staff, are aimed at pool users over 18 years old to enhance safety and prevention in public spaces.

CPR Workshop Schedule (CDM José María Cagigal, Calle de Santa Pola, 22):

  • Tuesdays: June 2nd, June 23rd, June 30th at 7:00 PM
  • Thursdays: June 4th, June 18th, June 25th at 7:00 PM
