Over Two Million Euros for Health and Care Projects in Barcelona
The Barcelona City Council, through the Area of Social Rights, Health, Cooperation, and Community, has opened its second specific multi-year grant call (2026-2027) to finance projects that promote the health and well-being of Barcelona’s citizens. A total of €2,110,000 (€1,055,000 annually) has been allocated for this initiative.
This call seeks to support projects deeply rooted in the community that foster health promotion and provide assistance to individuals affected by illnesses or their families. The aim is to address needs not sufficiently covered by existing health and social service portfolios.
The call for applications for grants to improve and care for citizens’ health was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) on January 8, 2026.
What Projects Are Eligible for Funding?
The grant program encompasses five key areas, aligning with current municipal strategies:
- Modality A – Support for Caregivers: In line with the Government Measure “Barcelona Towards the Right to Care 2025-2030.”
- Modality B – Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias: In line with the Barcelona Strategy for Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias 2025-2030.
- Modality C – Sexual and Reproductive Health: In line with the Shared Strategy for Sexual and Reproductive Health of the City.
- Modality D – Mental Health: In line with the Mental Health Plan 2023-2030 and/or the Government Measure Actions 2024-27 for Digital Well-being.
- Modality E – Addictions: In line with the Action Plan on Drugs and Addictions 2025-2028.
Who Can Apply?
Non-profit legal entities are eligible to submit applications.
What is the Grant Amount?
The grant is biennial, covering activities for the years 2026 and 2027. Successful applicants can receive a maximum of €38,000 annually per project. The total allocation for this call is €2,110,000.
Application Deadlines
Interested organizations can submit their applications from January 9th to February 5th, 2026, inclusive.
How to Submit Applications
Applications must be submitted by presenting the necessary documentation and the application form through the City Council’s Virtual Procedures Office.
It is strongly recommended that applicants consult the general terms of the call and the specific call in the BOPB before submitting their application.
Important Note: During the same period (January 8th to January 28th, inclusive), the general call for grants for 2026 is also open. This general call includes a Health and Care line, with a budget of €120,000 and a maximum grant of €20,000 per project. This line is intended for projects supporting individuals affected by health problems and promoting health in other areas.
