Anda Madrid: Six Walking Routes to Discover the City’s Most Iconic Places

Madrid is a city meant to be explored at a leisurely pace. Its grand avenues, historic parks, cultural spaces, and unique neighborhoods make every stroll a different way to discover the capital. This was the idea behind Anda Madrid, an initiative by the Madrid City Council that invites locals and visitors to explore the city on foot through six major urban routes connected to some of Madrid’s most emblematic places.

What is Anda Madrid?

Madrid is rediscovered by walking. That is the goal of Anda Madrid, an initiative promoted by the Madrid City Council to encourage sustainable mobility and invite both Madrileños and visitors to explore the city on foot.

The project launched in September 2024 and, since then, has become a tool to enjoy Madrid from another perspective: more relaxed, closer, and more connected to public spaces. Anda Madrid is part of the initiatives promoted within the Madrid 360 Environmental Sustainability Strategy, the municipal plan that promotes cleaner, more accessible, and healthier mobility in the capital.

The routes start or end at Puerta del Sol, one of the city’s major nerve centers and a symbol of the pedestrian transformation promoted by the City Council since 2020.

What’s New in Anda Madrid 2026?

The main novelty of this edition is the expansion of four of the six original routes. Thanks to this, the map now includes nine new essential stops spread across different districts of the capital.

Among the new highlighted spaces are:

  • The historic Beti Jai Frontón
  • El Capricho Park
  • Quinta de los Molinos
  • Metropolitano Stadium
  • Enrique Tierno Galván Park – Planetarium
  • Caja Mágica
  • Usera as a reference for Madrid’s ‘Chinatown’
  • Palacio Vistalegre
  • San Isidro Park

These additions expand the experience for those looking to discover Madrid beyond the traditional historic center.

A User-Friendly Map

The new Anda Madrid map includes practical information to facilitate the experience for those taking the routes. Each itinerary includes:

  • Distance between points
  • Approximate kilometers
  • Estimated walking time
  • Public transport connections
  • Location of EMT Madrid’s 001 and 002 lines

The map also incorporates EMT Madrid’s zero-emission lines 001 and 002, which are free 365 days a year, to facilitate connections between different areas of the city via sustainable public transport.

Additionally, the routes are designed to connect with major transport hubs such as:

  • Moncloa Interchange
  • Atocha Station
  • Nuevos Ministerios

The Anda Madrid 2026 map expands four of its six itineraries and incorporates new routes and iconic spaces to discover the city sustainably on foot.
