German Neobank N26 Chooses Madrid for European Corporate Center

Madrid, March 4, 2026 – German neobank N26 has announced the establishment of its new European corporate center in Madrid, Spain. This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to the Spanish market and its broader European operations. The new 2,000-square-meter facility will provide services such as customer support and financial control for all 24 countries where N26 operates.

The decision to open a corporate center in Madrid follows a trend of other financial institutions investing in the Spanish market. Late last year, ING inaugurated a technology center in Madrid, its sixth globally, planning to employ 1,000 professionals in software engineering, system architecture, and data analysis over the next four years. Revolut, a key competitor to N26, has also announced new offices in Madrid and Barcelona, with plans to hire 800 people.

N26’s Growth in Spain and Strategic Importance

N26 already has a technology center in Barcelona, and currently employs 60 people in Madrid and 400 in Barcelona. The neobank attributes its choice of Spain to the significant growth it has experienced in the country in recent years, both in business volume and staffing.

Antón Díez Tubet, General Manager for N26 in Spain and Portugal, emphasized Spain’s importance to the company. “Spain is one of the four key markets for the company and the second fastest-growing. With over a million customers and a team of 450 professionals across Madrid and Barcelona, we are in an excellent position to continue growing and positioning ourselves as the main alternative to traditional banking in our country. The opening of our new headquarters and the company’s second Operations hub symbolizes the beginning of a new and promising stage of growth in which Madrid, as a hub for financial and digital talent, will play an important role,” Díez Tubet stated.

New Headquarters and Leadership

N26’s main headquarters are located in Berlin, and it operates in Spain under its German license. The company recently appointed Antón Díez Tubet, formerly of competitor Trade Republic, to lead its operations in Spain and Portugal, succeeding Pablo Reboiro, who moved to Santander.

In addition to the new corporate center, N26 will also be relocating its Madrid offices. The bank will move from its current location on Paseo de la Castellana to a new 2,000-square-meter office at Don Ramón de la Cruz, 84.

Broader Economic Context and Outlook

This expansion comes amidst a dynamic period for the European financial technology sector. The increasing adoption of neobanks and digital financial services is driving competition and innovation. Madrid’s growing reputation as a hub for financial and digital talent makes it an attractive location for companies like N26 looking to expand their footprint and talent pool.

The investment by N26 is expected to further boost employment in the technology and finance sectors in Madrid, contributing to the city’s economic development and reinforcing its position as a key player in the European fintech landscape.
