Madrid, February 15 – The Community of Madrid has announced that the registration period for 81 new homes under the Plan Vive program in Colmenar Viejo will open on February 24th. These homes, currently under construction by the regional government, are expected to be ready for new tenants within the next few months.
New Development Adds to Growing Affordable Housing Stock
This new development, located on Cristóbal Colón Avenue, will soon join the 282 homes already delivered in Colmenar Viejo. Through this public-private collaboration initiative, the regional government continues to increase the supply of affordable rental housing in this northern municipality, which will eventually have a total of 915 affordable rental homes. Of these, 332 will be exclusively for young people under 35 years of age.
Facilities and Future Plans
This new urbanization is one of three currently under construction in Colmenar Viejo that are expected to be completed this year. It features 23 one-bedroom units, 52 two-bedroom units, and 6 three-bedroom units, along with parking spaces, a swimming pool, and other common areas such as a children’s playground and a gym.
With the goal of reaching 14,000 homes during the current legislative term, the Community of Madrid plans to add approximately 3,200 homes throughout 2026. This will be achieved by concluding the construction of new Plan Vive developments not only in Colmenar Viejo but also in 12 other municipalities in the region: Torrelodones, Boadilla del Monte, Pinto, Aranjuez, Arganda del Rey, Humanes de Madrid, Torrejón de la Calzada, Moralzarzal, Navalcarnero, Daganzo de Arriba, Velilla de San Antonio, and Villalbilla. In ten of these locations, the urbanizations are being built with funding from the European NextGenerationEU funds.
Eligibility Requirements for Plan Vive Homes
The primary requirement for these homes is that applicants must use them as their habitual residence and not own any other property in their name anywhere in Spain. Priority is given to individuals registered or working in the municipality for at least three years. Another important aspect is the spending limit: no more than 35% of the cohabitation unit’s annual net income can be allocated to the total annual rent payment.
