Madrid, April 13, 2026 – Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida announced on Monday the completion of the excavation of the south tunnel (inbound to Madrid) of the A-5 highway, a significant milestone in the city’s urban regeneration project. The excavation, extending from the Padre Piquer Avenue interchange to the connection point with the M-30 subway on Portugal Avenue, marks a crucial step in transforming the A-5 into the ‘Paseo Verde del Suroeste’ (Southwest Green Boulevard).
