As winter gives way to spring, Madrid is warming up with a diverse array of free cultural events scheduled from March 6 to 13. The highlight of the week is the third edition of the ‘LuzMadrid’ Festival, which will transform the city’s urban landscape with 15 artistic light installations.
LuzMadrid Festival Illuminates the City
The ‘LuzMadrid’ Festival, now in its third year, will feature 15 artistic light installations across 12 locations in Madrid. This year, the festival expands its reach to various districts, with Arganzuela serving as the central hub. Installations will also be found in Retiro, Centro, Chamberí, and Carabanchel. Key locations include Matadero, Casa del Reloj, Nave de Terneras, Madrid Río, and Colonia del Pico del Pañuelo, promising a visually rich experience of the city’s urban and historical sites.
The festival leverages light as a creative medium to ‘paint’ Madrid’s public spaces. For several nights, luminary installations by both national and international artists will illuminate squares, facades, streets, iconic buildings, and urban areas, providing ideal backdrops for memorable photographs.
