The Community of Madrid has taken a significant step in its educational digitalization strategy by providing technical equipment to 100 public centers, enabling them to establish their own school radio stations. This measure is integrated into the ‘Voces del Aula’ project, an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digitalization. The program seeks to consolidate a network of school radios in non-university education as a tool to reinforce communicative, social, and digital competencies among students.

Equipment Tailored to Educational Levels
Out of the 100 beneficiary centers, 73 are dedicated to Early Childhood, Primary, and Special Education. For these institutions, the Community has supplied a comprehensive kit, including a digital mixing console, headphones, dynamic microphones with stands, cabling, speakers, and all other necessary components to install and operate the radio station. Additionally, 27 Secondary and Vocational Training institutes will receive similar equipment, albeit adapted to their specific needs, featuring an analog mixing console and complementary devices such as distributors and amplifiers, as reported by the Ministry of Digitalization.
For Primary and Special Education, experts recommend the use of a digital radio due to its simplicity and accessibility. The ability to encode functions using color-coded keys facilitates task identification and reduces barriers to use. In contrast, the approach for Secondary education differs: the goal is to deepen media literacy and digital competence with more complex tools. The investment allocated to this project is approximately 100,000 euros.
