This information is updated as the network expands, which now exceeds 181,000 regulated spaces in the capital.

Since January 2020, Madrid has incorporated more than 41,000 new spaces in 17 neighborhoods, responding to neighborhood demand. Some of the most recent additions include Zofío (Usera), which has seen almost 1,900 new spaces since November 2025, and Comillas (Carabanchel), which added over 2,100 spaces in the summer. The expansion has been designed in two phases, extending until 2035, with the aim of reaching areas still without coverage.

How the SER Zone Affects Residents and Visitors

The system distinguishes between several types of spaces:

Green spaces: For residents, with no time limit for parking.
Blue spaces: For rotation, with a maximum parking duration of four hours.
High-rotation spaces: Designed for quick stops.
Dissuasive areas (ADD) and Hospital areas (ADHOS): These have special rates and adapted conditions.

The Madrid City Council is preparing an extension of the operating hours and scope of the SER parking meters. This measure will particularly affect areas with high pedestrian traffic or where specific events are held. In these spaces, parking control could extend until late at night, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, which was not generally covered until now.

Currently, regulated parking operates from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while Sundays and holidays are exempt. With the planned modification, tickets will need to be purchased from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM until a time determined by the City Council, which could extend into the night. “Up to 11 PM, for example,” Mayor Almeida himself has indicated.

Future Expansions and Neighborhood Consultations

The expansion will continue in neighborhoods such as Peñagrande, Valdezarza, Opañel, or Costillares before 2029, and in others like Lucero, Vista Alegre, or San Diego before 2035. According to municipal plans, the progressive deployment will reach areas of Puente de Vallecas, Moratalaz, Usera, or Carabanchel, where there are still streets outside the system.
