Madrid Breaks Traditional Tourist Map with Craft Beer Initiative
Madrid, January 22, 2026 – The Community of Madrid has unveiled an innovative ‘craft beer map’ at the 46th International Tourism Fair (Fitur), held at Ifema from Wednesday until Sunday, January 25. This guide highlights 15 artisan breweries across the region, aiming to redirect tourist flows beyond the capital and foster new tourism products.
A Collaborative Effort for Quality and Proximity
Developed in collaboration with the Association of Artisan Brewers of Madrid (ACCAM), the project focuses on establishments that produce beer traditionally, without flavorings or pasteurization, using only water, malt, yeast, and hops. This commitment to quality and local production aligns with the regional Tourism Strategy.
During the presentation, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco Serrano, emphasized that this guide seeks to become a new attraction for both visitors and Madrileños. “Beer accompanies some of the best moments of our lives. In Madrid, thanks to this group of 15 entrepreneurs, we now have our own artisan and quality flavor to celebrate with,” he stated.
Breweries Spread Across Capital and Ten Municipalities
The featured breweries are distributed across the capital, with four establishments, and ten other municipalities in the region: Alcobendas, Alpedrete, Aranjuez, Becerril de la Sierra, Bustarviejo, Getafe, Leganés, Móstoles, Rivas, and Torrejón de Ardoz. The guide offers an experience that combines tradition, innovation, and local roots, inviting visitors to discover Madrid through the local recipes of this ancient beverage. The breweries included in this publication are La Caníbal, Joint Brewing, Bailandera, CCVK, Maltacaballar, Gabarrera, The One, Oso Brew Co, Fábrica Excepcional, Bacterio Brewing, Chula, La Cibeles, Patanel, Amiga, and Tenta Brewing Co.
Beyond the Product: Immersive Experiences
The offerings at most of these artisan breweries extend beyond just the product. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the brewery with pairings and tastings, often accompanied by live music, to learn about the brewing process and discover the nuances and secrets of the beer world. Many also offer their beers with pickles and cold cuts. Additionally, some have their own shops where special editions or limited productions can be purchased, reinforcing the idea of an exclusive experience, while others provide a diverse program of cultural activities to enliven their brewery spaces.
Fitur and the Reinvention of Madrid’s Image
This initiative comes as Fitur, the International Tourism Fair, also sees other cultural reinventions, such as the Mexican ‘Bear and Strawberry Tree’ sculpture in Sol, symbolizing cultural ties with Mexico, the guest country at Fitur. The craft beer map further diversifies Madrid’s tourist appeal, offering a unique blend of gastronomy, culture, and local discovery.
The Community of Madrid continues to innovate in its tourism strategy, aiming to showcase the rich tapestry of experiences available throughout the entire region, encouraging visitors to explore beyond the well-trodden paths of the capital.
