Madrid, June 10, 2026 – National Police agents have arrested seven Peruvian nationals suspected of involvement in an armed robbery at a jewelry store located at 342 Calle de Alcalá in Madrid’s Ciudad Lineal district. Among those detained are a man and a woman who reportedly entered the establishment disguised as a priest and a nun to facilitate the heist.

Dramatic Robbery Unfolds with Unusual Disguises

The incident occurred around 11:30 AM when the Intelligent Command, Communication, and Control Center (CIMACC-091) received a call reporting that three individuals had entered the premises. According to the ongoing investigation, the fake priest and nun requested an employee to show them several pieces of jewelry. While the employee was distracted, a third member of the group allegedly forced her into the back room.

The swift intervention of the Provincial Judicial Police’s Group XIII Robbery Unit, in collaboration with the Citizen Attention Group (GAC), allowed officers to surprise the suspects during the robbery. During the police operation, the man dressed as a priest reportedly pointed a firearm at two officers before being subdued and arrested.

Extensive Police Operation Leads to Multiple Arrests

Investigators also apprehended two other individuals who were acting as lookouts near the establishment, tasked with alerting the group to any police presence. The operation continued with a pursuit on the M-30 highway of a vehicle carrying two more gang members. The car was intercepted near the Puente de Ventas exit after its occupants rammed a police car in an attempt to escape.

In total, seven individuals have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery with intimidation. Officers seized a firearm, and the investigation remains open to determine if the detainees are linked to other jewelry store and gold pawn shop assaults reported in the Community of Madrid in recent weeks. Today’s detainees could be the same group responsible for robberies at the La Vaguada and Torrelodones jewelry stores.

Wave of Jewelry Store Robberies Sparks Concern

This robbery occurs amidst a surge in thefts targeting gold pawn shops and jewelry stores in the Community of Madrid. This incident marks the sixth such assault in the sector in less than a month. Armando Rodríguez, secretary of the Jewelers and Silversmiths Guild, has requested a meeting with the Government delegate to address the growing security concerns.

The Madrid police continue their efforts to bring all those responsible for this wave of robberies to justice and to enhance security measures for businesses in the region.
