Barcelona Gears Up for 10th ‘Race Against Cancer’ on May 31st

Barcelona, May 24th, 2026 – The city of Barcelona is preparing to host the 10th edition of the ‘Race Against Cancer’ on May 31st, a significant solidarity event aimed at raising funds for cancer research and providing support to patients and their families. This year’s race, officially named ’10a Cursa Km Contra el Càncer Barcelona al Port’, will take place along the Moll de les Drassanes, coinciding with the Port of Barcelona’s Open Days, offering a unique setting for participants.

A Day of Sport and Solidarity for All Ages

The event, organized by the Associació Contra el Càncer in Barcelona, is designed to be inclusive, offering various race categories to accommodate different ages and fitness levels. The main event will be a timed 5-kilometer race, starting at 9:00 AM from Portal de la Pau. The route will take participants through iconic areas of Barcelona’s maritime front, including Rambla de Mar, Barceloneta pier, Mare Nostrum promenade, and Espanya pier, before concluding at the Moll de la Fusta.

Following the 5km race, a more accessible 2-kilometer popular race will commence at 10:30 AM from the Moll de la Fusta (also known as Moll de Bosch i Alsina). This route is ideal for those who wish to walk, participate with family, or simply enjoy the solidarity aspect without the pressure of competition. The circuit will cover Espanya pier and Rambla de Mar within the Port Vell area.

At 11:00 AM, the youngest participants will have their turn with children’s races tailored for ages 4 to 14. Distances will be adjusted according to age groups, ensuring that children can also contribute to this meaningful cause.

Funds for a Crucial Cause: Research and Support

Participation fees for the ‘Race Against Cancer’ range from 5 euros for children’s bibs to 10 euros for the 2-kilometer race and 17 euros for the 5-kilometer race. Additionally, solidarity bibs are available for 25 euros. Crucially, 100% of the proceeds from registrations will be allocated to cancer research and the free support and care services provided by the Associació Contra el Càncer in Barcelona to patients and their families. Participants also have the option to personalize their bibs with the name of a loved one, transforming the race into a collective tribute filled with emotion.

Parallel Activities and Registration Information

Beyond the races, the organizers have arranged a diverse program of parallel activities to enhance the event’s festive and communal atmosphere. These include live music, a DJ, children’s workshops, family activities, and a solidarity mural under the slogan “And you, who do you run for?”.

Bib collection will take place on May 29th and 30th at the Time Out Market Barcelona, located at Moll d’Espanya. Registration will remain open until May 31st or until all available spots are filled. This event promises to be a powerful display of community spirit, combining physical activity with a profound commitment to fighting cancer and supporting those affected by it.
