Madrid, May 22, 2026 – The Spanish healthcare group Hospiten has officially begun construction on its new general university hospital in Boadilla del Monte, located in the Madrid region. The groundbreaking ceremony for the future 55,000 m2 facility took place on June 5, marking a significant milestone for the group’s expansion in the Community of Madrid.

A Major Investment in Healthcare and Employment

The project represents a substantial investment of 200 million euros and is expected to create approximately 350 jobs during the construction phase. Upon its anticipated completion in mid-2026, the hospital will generate around 800 new positions, encompassing both healthcare and non-healthcare personnel, significantly boosting employment in the area.

Hospiten has partnered with BWRE, a real estate investment management company, to lead the project’s structuring and management. BWRE is overseeing the entire process, from site selection and technical-financial development to project management, aiming to establish a nationally renowned healthcare complex.

Official Ceremony and Vision for the Future

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Javier Úbeda Liébana, Mayor of Boadilla del Monte, Juan José Hernández Rubio, Executive Chairman of Hospiten, Pedro Luis Cobiella Suárez, Honorary Chairman of Hospiten, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, Vice Chairman and CEO of Hospiten, and Diana Cobiella, Hospiten Board Member. A symbolic urn containing current events items was placed on the site, commemorating the historic moment for future generations.

Juan José Hernández Rubio, Hospiten CEO, emphasized the group’s enduring vision. “Since Hospiten was founded in 1969 in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), the company’s vision has been clear: to create a wellness ecosystem focusing on caring for people and integrating technology and innovation. 55 years later, and as the only entirely Spanish hospital group with an international presence, we are proud to be able to say that our vision continues with this new Hospiten Boadilla center.”

Mayor Javier Úbeda Liébana expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “It is a pleasure for the whole of Boadilla to welcome what will be the future Hospiten university hospital. For us it is a commitment to health, innovation and progress, and we are delighted that it will be in the hands of such a renowned group as Hospiten.”

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Comprehensive Services

The new hospital will be equipped with modern facilities designed to provide comprehensive medical care. It will offer a total of 45 medical and surgical specialties. Key features of the new facility include:

  • 160 hospitalization rooms, including 20 suites.
  • 12 beds in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • 20 beds in the Emergency Room.
  • 22 beds for the Day Hospital.
  • 17 operating rooms.
  • 5 delivery rooms.
  • Approximately 80 outpatient consultations.
  • A dedicated hemodynamics room.

This will be the first private hospital in Boadilla del Monte, significantly enhancing healthcare options for residents in the area.

Commitment to Patient Care and Regional Expansion

The new Boadilla del Monte facility underscores Hospiten’s ongoing commitment to providing top-tier healthcare services focused on patient well-being. The center will integrate state-of-the-art technology across all its facilities to support its wide range of specialties.

Hospiten has a significant international presence, with centers in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Panama. In Spain, the group operates hospitals in the Canary Islands, Estepona, and Algeciras. The acquisition of MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in 2010 solidified Hospiten’s position as a leading private healthcare provider in the Community of Madrid. MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid, the only subsidiary of the renowned Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center, has become a reference in oncology treatment, supported by a highly qualified multidisciplinary team.

The new university hospital in Boadilla del Monte will further expand Hospiten’s footprint in the region, reinforcing its dedication to quality care and job creation within Boadilla and the broader Madrid community.
