TK Maxx Arrives in Spain: Barcelona Store Draws Massive Crowds

Barcelona, March 19, 2026 – The highly anticipated opening of TK Maxx’s first store in Spain, located at the Diagonal Mar shopping center in Barcelona, has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm. A significant queue formed at the entrance even before opening, with shoppers of all ages and curious onlookers eager to explore the new retail destination. The brand, which originated in the UK in 1994 and has been established across Europe for over three decades, specializes in fashion, beauty, and home goods, offering premium brands at significantly reduced prices.

A New Retail Model for Spain

This launch marks the entry of the TJX Companies group into the Spanish market, with plans for further expansion in the coming years. The chosen location in the Sant Martí district, nestled among affordable multinational brands like Primark and Decathlon, positions TK Maxx directly opposite a Zara store on the ground floor. The new Barcelona store has created approximately 80 new jobs.

The store, spanning 2,168 square meters on a single floor, is one of the largest retail spaces within the Diagonal Mar center. TK Maxx operates on an ‘off-price’ model, offering original brand-name and designer clothing, footwear, and accessories at prices 20% to 60% lower than traditional retail. A key aspect of the shopping experience is the “thrill of finding that unexpected treasure,” as described by the establishment. The store also boasts a high product rotation, ensuring constant new arrivals to encourage frequent visits from loyal customers.

Grand Opening Celebrations and Customer Excitement

An employee shared that “people were already queuing at eight in the morning,” two hours before the official opening. The ribbon-cutting ceremony and a festive red carpet welcomed the early birds, with the first hundred customers receiving a gift voucher. Inside, shoppers discovered a wide array of fashion for women, men, and children, along with footwear, accessories, beauty products, home goods, and jewelry, all at attractive prices.

Throughout the day, customers enjoyed various celebratory activities, including a morning coffee zone, a treasure hunt, live music from a DJ, and scratch cards offering the chance to win TK Maxx gift cards worth up to 100 euros. A photo booth was also set up at the entrance, attracting many customers.

Pre-Opening Event and Brand Ambassadors

The night before the grand opening, TK Maxx hosted an exclusive event for digital and cultural influencers, introducing them to the unique ‘treasure hunt’ shopping experience. Among the first ‘treasure hunters’ were Paula Gonu, Andrea Mengual, and Judit Martos. The event also featured a surprise performance by Miki Núñez, who brought positive energy and music to the vibrant evening.

Marta Torné, the event’s ambassador, stated, “Spain has a creative energy and a joy of living that perfectly match the colorful and surprising spirit of TK Maxx. For me, fashion is a way to express personality and have fun, and that is precisely what this store invites you to do: discover, combine, play.”

A Unique Shopping Proposition

TK Maxx’s arrival in Barcelona brings an internationally established model to Spain, offering high-quality items from national and international brands at up to 60% off the recommended retail price as part of its regular offering. Unlike conventional stores, the brand provides incredible prices year-round, without sales or promotions, focusing solely on high-quality products such as Portuguese porcelain, cashmere, Egyptian cotton, and Polish crystal, all at low prices.
